Project Description:

Strathyre Primary School, covering a wide rural catchment area, has a school roll of 45 pupils. It has two classrooms where pupils are taught in a composite structure (P1-P3 and P4-P7) and a standalone, rented modular unit in the grounds that provides flexible but limited shared accommodation for teaching, staffroom, library, meetings and breakout space.

The school does not have a hall or dining room. A production kitchen adjoined to the larger classroom allows the teaching space to be used as a dining room. In order to deliver the PE curriculum, all pupils are taken off site to alternative locations; an arrangement that lacks flexibility with travelling time having to be added into the school day. The school is not currently DDA compliant and is unsuitable for wheelchair users. Classrooms are on the upper floor and there is no lift.

The works associated with this project are to improve these facilities to accommodate 75 pupils and improve DDA compliance and energy efficiency.
